The Lammegeyer Hide offers guests an oppertunity to view the rare Bearded Vulture [Lammergeyer] as well as other raptors. The vulture hide is situated on a gassy plateau among the deep valleys running down from the face of the High Drakensberg, offering glorious views of the Central Drakensberg. Carcasses are put out to supplement the diet of the rare bearded vulture. Other raptors that visit the hide include the Verreaux's (black) eagle, lanner falcon, Cape vulture and jackal buzzard. Giant's Castle offers exceptional hiking opportunities with breathtaking views. Giant's Castle really is a hiker’s paradise, with a wide range of exciting hikes to suit all levels, from the amateur, to the professional or serious hiker. These hikes range from pleasant short walks, to more intense longer walks.
Giants Castle Nature Reserve is renowned for some of the best examples of bushman rock art in the Drakensberg Mountains.
Bird Watching with over 170 known species of birds, including many raptors such as Bearded Vulture and Black Eagle in the reserve.
Trout Fishing takes place in the streams along the Bushman's River. Permits are available from the Giants Castle Camp reception.
